Hurrah! We’ve have 13 teams registered for the June 27 tournament. Our hall isn’t huge, so we are pretty much at capacity. The last few slots for those who send in their team sheets will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s so easy - we have even created a pre-tournament practise pack for participating teams. And every Tuesday afternoon after the St Peter‘s maths team meets, we’ll post the puzzle we worked on. You’ll find it on the resources forum of this website. The first few one are already there.
A s a thank you for dropping off their children an hour early for school each Wednesday for practice, we invited the parents of our mathletes to a friendly match of countdown at the end of term. It gave the children a chance to show off their skills and was a bit of good-natured, competitive fun. The best take-away was when parents buzzed in excitedly and showed off their answers on the white board only to find they had made an error along the way. It was brilliant to watch the children watch their parents give it a go and fail with grace and humour. If you want to play the game, you can make up your own numbers or find them here: http://happysoft.org.uk/countdown/numgame.php
